Elaborative interrogation

Elaborative interrogation (Pressley et al.) asks students to answer 'why?' and 'how?' questions about what they are learning. The process of generating explanations strengthens connections in long-term memory.

A learning strategy in which students generate explanations for why facts or concepts are true.
