Higher-order thinking

Higher-order thinking (HOT) is associated with the upper levels of Bloom's taxonomy. HOT tasks require students to work with knowledge in novel ways — analyse competing arguments, evaluate evidence quality, synthesise across sources, or create original products.

Cognitive tasks that require analysis, evaluation, synthesis, or creation rather than recall or basic comprehension.
