Cold calling

Cold calling (Doug Lemov, Teach Like a Champion) normalises the expectation that every student is thinking at all times. Done well, it includes wait time, partial responses, and no-opt-out extensions. It significantly increases the volume of thinking across a class.

The teacher calls on students regardless of whether they have raised their hand.
